Prototec!

Around the start of the term and before we started to use a program called Prototec. This is a maths program that you use to improve in Basic facts.
I think that it was interesting because it was only quick but it was not heaps of fun. So I think that you should try it out! Here is the link: Prototec link.

Here is my prototec chart for how I did and we did these charts too in Rimu.
We did these charts to show our score in prototec and how well we did in Rimu so we made these. We do this because we need to improve in basic facts so we can reach the maths standard.

Digi Awards!

A few weeks ago we had the DigiAwards at Burnside High School. Myself, Joe and Isaac made ours about that we need more smoke free zones and that you can’t smoke in smoke free zones. The topic was
“Make A Change” And I think that it was a very good topic to do the
DigiAwards
to. I think ours was a funny movie and I think that the wind and sound was hard to do. I learned how to fix that by using voice over. I hope you enjoy
and please comment!

Cantamaths

Term 3 Week 5 Rimu class made their Cantamaths and Joe and I did ours on a board game about maths and learning. Cantamath is an important and exciting part of the school calendar for many teachers and students. It provides an opportunity for students to explore the wide world of mathematics and display their work to a Canterbury audience. I think that this times one was amazing because there was lots of people doing it. I hope you sign up for next years Cantamaths!

My Speech!

A few days ago we read the speeches that we wrote aloud. We were learning to write persuasively. I think that I did good because I spoke clearly and loud and that I know I did well.  We did this so some of us could go to the Ellesmere Cluster Speech Competition.  My topic was how "You Can't Always Be Fair" and I think that it was a good topic because I got lots of info into my speech, but it could use some more commas. Hope you enjoy my speech and comment down below!

The William Pike Challenge Award: Rock Climbing

On Monday the 20th of June Rimu class went to go rock climbing. We went to Cattlestop Crag on Port Hills on the top of Mount Pleasant Road and it had an amazing view and Rimu had so much fun up there. Instantly it was extremely cold as we stepped out of the car because the car was so warm and I was wearing shorts. Later when we got to the climbing spot we unpacked and had a snack to keep us going and 5 or 6 people got to go abseiling and the rest got to go climbing like me.

Most of the time when I was there I mainly felt happy and nervous. The view was amazing and we saw lots. When we had done all of the climbing and abseiling we had lunch and started to pack up to go home. At the end of the day I got to do 4 climbs and abseiling I was so exhausted by 3:00.

In the end we had an amazing day and I feel like i ticked something off my bucket list. I know my friends had a good time up in the clouds. I think one of my best times up there was when I turned and saw the view from the top of a climb. One of my favorite climbs was the hardest one that I went on because of how hard it was and that made me feel proud of myself.

The William pike Challenge is amazing and it is lots of fun. It was made so younger people can have a challenge and go outdoors. We get to do lots of cool things like rock climbing, surfing, hiking and more! So if you like the sound of it go check it out http://williampike.co.nz/the-william-pike-challenge-award/

Legoland and Universal!

Legoland! In legoland we saw a lot of lego like 10 truck loads and we made our own mini lego people. We went on all (or most) of the rides and one of them was the ninjago ride, it was awesome because you got to shoot things with your hands and lots more. Most of the time the lines for the rides were busy because they had so many cool rides. One of them was to make a boat and test it on the track mine had a black base with a yellow J on it. Hope you like legoland comment if you do.

Universal! When we pulled up here we were amazed because it was so massive and huge! Dad brought a preferred pass so we could park closer to the park and not have to walk as far. We went on all of what I think was the most fun rides. One of the rides that we went on was the Harry Potter rides (there were 2) the first ride we went one was a fast roller coaster and the other roller coaster was a 3D ride. Nanny and Grandad brought me and Violet a Harry Potter wand, mine was Sirius Black’s wand.

Then we got to the hotel that is called the Magic Castle hotel, IT WAS AWESOME! They give you anything you want and it is included in the price for the stay! So the magical ice cream vending machine gives you unlimited ice cream so you know what happened next and l felt sick after that. Hope you like the pictures!

World War II

Today we went to the World War II museum, I thought that most of the stuff there was very sad. I say this because all or most of the weapons there had killed lots of people and citys. There were Japanese people that hopped in planes packed with bombs and killed themselves as well as killing  the people with the bombs. Everyplace you went there was a Dog Tag experience were you were given a soldiers story to follow in WWII and you had to track there story on the screens that you find everywere in the building.

Later we went to the cable car and looked round the place. When we finshed in New Orleans we got to the airport and got into the gate. Nanny got her toothpaste taken and what was she going to do with toothpaste, squirt someone in the face!? Now we are waiting in the airport to go to Las Vegas. See you guys soon!

Cape Canaveral and Miami!

Today we made it to Miami. It took way too long, we also went to the Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral. When we got there we had a look at the crawler-transporter; the crawler is a giant metal platform that carries the spaceship to the launch pad on it's digger tracks. It was HUGE, and when it is taking a rocket to the launchpad it crawls along very slowly, taking about 8 hours to get from the hangar to the launch site, which is only a few miles away. The hangar is the largest single story building in the world, and the massive hangar doors take 45 mins to open!! When we got to the space center we had to wait in the line for about 1 hour to get in, because the self checking in booths were closed so there was a massive line.

We also saw the space shuttle Atlantis. The Atlantis was the transport reusable space shuttle that took off in the Space Center to give food and supplies, and to take astronauts, satellites, and other equipment to space. It played a big part in helping to build the International Space Station. It was used many times for the same over and over again but it was never intended to go to the Moon. We also touched a moon rock. I got to go on a shuttle lauch simulator - it was awesome, and when you lift off you have to basically lie on your back facing the sky. The noise and g forces are amazing!! We had lots of fun there and saw a 3.7 billion year old rock from space. Hope you like the pictures!

TIGERS!

13th May

This week we went to Disneyworld and had an amazing time there and got pins! They are for trading and for buying (they cost lots!). We went to Magic Kingdom and it was the first and original theme park to open. Also we went Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Disney (Animal Kingdom was where I got storm, I will talk about that later). Did you know that  Magic Kingdom was the first and original theme park to open in the complex followed by Epcot, Disney's Hollywood, and Animal Kingdom, which opened later throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

So about this guy

This is Storm my new pet he is a Tiger and he has a soft belly and chin. Comment if you think he looks cool.
Now he is with Tiggies and Snowy. Anyway there is lots of rides there and it is lots of fun, If anyone goes there be sure to go to Disney Hollywood Studios. At Magic Kingdom and Epcot we got some pins, pins are pins that you trade with employees at disney. You put them on a necklace and they are lots of fun to play with. Hope you guys like the pictures.

New Day!

Hello everyone we just got to Orlando and it is amazing! We just came from Washington, did you know that Washington is a leading lumber producer? So cool! It is also the capital city of America. Yesterday we went to Disneyworld It was fun and we had a great time and went on 8 rides! Anyway in Washington we got to go to the Smithsonian castle. Later in the week we did all the parks and museums and at the airport we went to the Udvar-Hazy Air and Space Smithsonian (its is a museum of space and aircrafts) And we saw a space shuttle (Discovery)! We also went to the National Holocaust museum in DC, which was horrible because we learnt all about what the Nazi's did to the Jewish people in World War II. There was a pile of shoes at the end, which was sad because when the Jews were killed in the gas chambers their shoes were piled up outside.

Later the 2 hour plane left for Orlando. When we got there all we did was sleep and sleep and sleep more. Once we woke up in the cabins of the disney woods we went forward to the disney magical kingdom, we went to the most good looking (and fast time for waiting) rollercoaster's. Later we went swimming, and then back on the boat to go and finish the rides.

Today we headed to the animal kingdom - I'll write more about this tomorrow (Tiger heaven!!!). See you later!

Last Day!

It was the last day of New York on the 5th of may. We walked the brooklyn bridge and it only took us 15 minutes! (Its takes about 45-20 normally). Then we went to the candy store and l got some sour stuff, violet got some sweet, and dad got chewy. We later went to The Strand book store and got only one book (they were all boring or american). Later we got home and got ready to go for Washington DC. When we finshed the bus trip (it took 4 hours!)  We got to the hotel and went to sleep. Today we had a big sleep in. We then saw The White House on a bus and we went swimming and went to bed here are some pics!
